Lori Kagal

Lori Kagal is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and Ontario Association of Social workers. Lori obtained her Masters of Social Work at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2010 and her B.A Honours Specialization in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario in 2007.

She works with individuals, families and groups, supporting a wide range of needs including managing symptoms of anxiety, stress, depression, suicidal ideation, trauma and family conflict.

Lori supports families with diverse needs including poverty, child abuse and child welfare involvement, substance abuse, parent-teen conflict, suicidal ideation, child mental health, adult mental health, domestic violence and neglect. Lori joined the Toronto District School Board in 2018 as a school social worker. She serviced students and their families mostly through individual counselling. Lori utilizes a strengths-based, holistic approach to service her clients. She practices through a lens of equity, anti-oppression and anti-black racism. Lori’s therapeutic approach utilizes mainly Solution Focused and Cognitive Behavioural techniques. She is a strong advocate for clients by liaising with school staff and community partners to ensure students receive the support they need.

Lori has also provided individual counselling for those who have suffered injuries resulting from motor vehicle accidents. She supported clients’ mental health needs by addressing symptoms of PTSD, anxiety and depression resulting from the accident. Lori is passionate about empowering individuals to build resiliency so that they can improve their mental health. She aims to improve clients’ quality of lives by devising individualized case plans tailored to fit each individual’s unique circumstance.

Lori is both fluent in English and Hebrew and can service clients’ in either language.
